AM I?

August 25th, 2026

I am finding myself struggling to mentally fight against the patriarchal screams that men hold on to when they wish to pain you, due to them feeling rejected. Now I am a slut. A whore. My mom calls me a hoe for owning my sexuality. My cousin, a woman I looked up to once, called me a slut. Am I? Am I a nasty cunty slutty bitch just because everyone seems to think so? Or are they the delusional ones that are spewing pre-conceived narratives built on the foundation of their continued ignorance and a wrinkly smelly white man’s aggressive hypnotism. Call me what you want, I can take it. There’s no word in the English language filled with even an inkling of hate and shame that I haven’t come to evaluate myself through because someone deemed it fit to call me it.

Fine, I will admit it. Are you fucking happy now? Now that I find myself once again evaluating my value as a woman through a lens constructed to control my mind and body. I am 27 and finding myself struggling to fight against their voices. He slut shames me because I won’t choose him. She slut shames me because I don’t fit her narrative of a “good” woman. She slut shames me because she hates herself and chooses to believe that she is “unwoman” just because someone told her she is. I begin to force them to unravel themselves from being in relation to me and they are angry at me for it. Angry that I don’t fit into their realities full of rigidity and shame. Leave me out of that because I want nothing to do with it. Your rage is completely valid. I have felt rejection. I have felt shame. I have felt guilt and I promise those are things I cannot help you avoid, so leave me out of it please. Deal with that on your own because I have things I need to get to, such as watering my plants, cooking myself dinner, vacuuming my room, fucking anything else but helping you self soothe. But I am hurt because……I once again find myself wondering, am I a slut? Am I? Or am I simply comfortable in my own skin and in my own sexuality? You know, I refuse to allow anyone else define who I am and I will forever fight for the autonomy of my body, my thoughts, my mind, my choices, and my life because I am entitled to that. Even in a world full of oppression where we have to go without because someone else believes we aren’t entitled to it, I say we are. I say we must all say we are and fuck all the noise because that is all it is.
